The Prophet Muhammed (saw) taught us that “Charity does not diminish wealth.” This saying couldn’t be truer. The blessings of giving charity are numerous and this is exactly why Elm school prides itself in teaching its young children from a very early age to give to those who are less fortunate.
This year in 2017 as the drought situation continued to affect a large area of our country, ELM schools once again took part in gathering contributions. This time around we did things a little different. The students from grade 4 and above where given fundraising forms to go and collect the money from the people they knew i.e family, friends, neighbours etc. The result has been fantastic. They have collected an impressive amount of over 10,500,000 Somaliland shillings in only one week.
The Top 3 students who collected the most contributions were selected along with the Elm school delegation to represent their school and go to the Ministry of Education. The delegation consisted of the school administration team and president of the parents committee. They met with the Minister of Education, Mr. Abdillahi Ibrahim Habane at his office and the Director General for Private Education Mr. Muse Shide. The Minister was gracious and welcomed the children and expressed his appreciation for their hard work. He also encouraged them to continue inspiring people so that they can become the leaders of tomorrow.
