During his stay in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, Waleed Abdi noticed that the children of their house help Fadumo, were not going to school like other children. Waleed, impressed by Hamza’s and Mohamed’s, aged 5 and 6 respectively, learning and creative abilities, decided to use his little earnings as a part-time tutor to sponsor one of the boy’s education. On his request the school has agreed to sponsor the other child.

The selfless action of Waleed, only 16 years old himself, has really touched our hearts. And for his generous action he has been nominated for the ELM School person of the year award.
