ELM school’s staff made a concerted effort to ensure that their English-language learners feel like experts during Culture Week. For weeks the teachers worked together with Mr. Mukhtar Muse Omer the chairperson of the Parents committee, who has been brought in as an expert and proved to be a valuable resource.
The students, with the help and guidance of their teachers, prepared a variety of performances including singing, poetry and some light hearted sketches. The whole school participated in numerous performances throughout the event. Everyone had an incredible time and learned a lot!
The traditional setting and decor in Hido Dhowr restaurant provided an ideal environment for the grand finale of the festivities of culture week. With the young learners dressed in colourful traditional Somali attires, it was a very enjoyable and eventful week that gave the kids a chance to prepare and experience so many creative and inspiring activities!
